Job Title: Compensation Analyst

Job Summary

The Compensation Analyst is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs that are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the organization's business objectives. This role analyzes market data, evaluates internal pay structures, and provides data-driven insights to support hiring, retention, and performance management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and maintain salary structures, pay grades, and job classifications
  • Conduct market pricing using compensation surveys and benchmarking tools
  • Support annual compensation processes, including merit increases, bonuses, and equity reviews
  • Evaluate internal pay equity and assist with compliance related to wage and hour laws and pay transparency requirements
  • Partner with HR, Talent Acquisition, and leadership to provide compensation guidance for new hires, promotions, and role changes
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate compensation data and recommendations
  • Assist with job evaluations and job description reviews to ensure accurate leveling and alignment
  • Support audits, reporting, and documentation related to compensation programs
  • Stay current on market trends, labor laws, and best practices in compensation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in compensation, HR analytics, or a related HR function (level may vary by role)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel and HRIS systems; experience with compensation survey tools preferred
  • Solid understanding of compensation principles, market pricing, and pay equity concepts
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain data clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit, public sector, or industry-specific compensation structures (as applicable)
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws related to compensation
  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) or progress toward certification is a plus
